By this time last year, Greenery was announced as Pantone's Color of the Year for 2017 and we embraced the liveliness of this tone into our homes all throughout the year, infusing our interiors with gorgeous shades of green and many indoor plants too (and lots of them!).
Just recently, the Pantone Color Institute announced the 2018 Color of the Year: Ultra Violet. A "provocative and thoughtful" shade that portrays "originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us towards the future".
According to the Pantone Color Institute, the color consulting company chooses every year a color that symbolizes design trends and cultural mood, and this years choice is "inventive and imaginative" : Ultra Violet "lights the way to what is yet to come".
So, although Pantone has already announced the Color of the Year for 2018, Pantone Color Institute executive director Leatrice Eiseman shared prior what other color and design trends we could expect to see in the upcoming year:
VERDURE: Vegetable colors, like celery, combined with berry-infused purples and egg-shell blue. This palette simbolizes health and vitality.
PLAYFUL: Bright yellow, lime green and all of the other fun colors come together in this color palette. Think “Minions”: according to Eiseman, "people need to stop and smile!"
RESOURCEFUL: This palette is made up of complementary blues and oranges, combining warm and cool tones, making it impossible to not stop and stare.
DISCRETION: Compared to as "Playful's" alter-ego, these subtle tones like Elderberry and Hawthorne Rose provide a new sense of strength, where "pink has developed more power than ever before", according to Eiseman.
FAR-FETCHED: With warm earthy tones, like Cornsilk Yellow combined with shades of pink. According to Eiseman, this palette, "reaches out and embraces many different cultures".
INTRICACY: A palette made up of neutral metallics, known as the "new neutrals", combined with highlights of Holly Berry Red and Yellow Sulfur. This combined color explosion, paired with metallic nuances, translate into a true "glamour" look.
INTENSITY: The combination of intense, bold colors evoke a sense of strength, power and sophistication, all balanced out with black and gold. Its all about drama in this color scheme!
TECH-NIQUE: Bright turquoise, pink and purple, paired with Brilliant White and Frosted Almond give interiors a "techy" vibe. This palette is all about shades that seem to "shine from within" according to Eiseman.
Even though Pantone's 2018 Color of the Year is Ultra Violet and we're bound to see lots of interiors and home accessories in this tone, as you can see there are many other color palette options for interior lovers in 2018 that don't necessarily need to be in this shade.
The LX CRAFTS Co Team wishes everyone a colorful 2018 - you can already get a sense of what's coming our way!
